We are excited to announce that Project Pueblo UCB has won the 2011 Outstanding Student Organization Oski Award from UC Berkeley! This is quite an accomplishment, as only the top 3-5 student organizations that are nominated each year end up winning this award. Special thanks to all the leaders who helped out this past year at the Cal student chapter: (in alphabetical order) Channchi Chau, Jenhi Garcia, Melissa Jullig, Dixon Li, Jeff Nagata, Aria Pakatchi, and Anthony Rodriguez.

The OSKIs: Student Leadership Awards are awarded to students and organizations who have demonstrated extraordinary effort and achievement. The Outstanding Student Organization Award recognizes up to five student organizations that have shown active engagement with student life and have also demonstrated a significant and positive impact on the campus community.

This year in particular, this group of leaders accomplished a tremendous amount, bringing over 60 Cal students to the Navajo reservation on two trips over the past four months and securing $4500 in grant money from the Big Ideas competition. 

In addition to the day-to-day contributions these leaders are making, they are currently working on teaching a Project Pueblo class at UC Berkeley next semester in which students will not only learn about the issues of the Bennett Freeze but will also actively contribute their efforts toward the cause both throughout the semester and on a winter break service trip.

Great work, and we are looking forward to see what happens this next year!
